Norwex Review

norwex clothsA few weeks ago I did a review on JuJuBe, which since then I have added even more to my stash, and wanted to  continue that idea with another product review.  With the holidays around the corner with gift giving at an all time high, I’m hoping these reviews may sway a few people.  I understand cleaning products are generally frowned upon for gifts, but some people would really love and appreciate these items.  So, let’s get down and dirty with some of the Norwex products I have used and instantly fell in love.

norwex cloth 2The enviro cloth.  I have used a large amount of microfiber cloths over the years and they all fall apart or get this weird gritty feeling.  I’ve even used the e-cloth brand which is similar to Norwex but slightly lower quality.  The Norwex cloths feel amazing and everything gets trapped in the microfiber.  It takes no time at all and only water to clean my very messy 1 year old and the table surrounding him after spaghetti dinner.  I just rinse the cloth clean and use again with the next mess.  I can do that with the Norwex cloths because it contains silver which kills germs so I’m not spreading bacteria.  I’ve removed all of the other cloths from my cleaning supplies and only use Norwex enviro cloths for my house.  They come in a variety of colors so I’ve labeled specific colors for their intended use.  Although they have the bacteria killing ability, I am still not using a cloth on my toilet one day and then on my kitchen counter the next.  Labeling allows me to keep them very organized.

Next, I purchased the mop pads.  I completely understand the hesitation for not mop norwexpurchasing the mop system.  It is a steep price tag.  But, I already had the BONA mopping system and the cloths fit fairly well on that handle.  I can now quickly sweep my floors with one cloth and just brush the dirt into the trash.  For larger piles of dirt from dog hair, I use my Dyson to vacuum up before mopping.  The mopping pad uses just a little water and the same handle.  I love being able to clean my house with just water and know that I am collecting the germs that are lying around in the cloth.

Finally, I use the mattress cleaner.  I purchased this due to my daughters allergies.  It was recommended we get rid of the carpet and stuffed animals to cut down on the dust that collects.  However, the cost to remove carpet and replace with good quality flooring is a bit much at this time.  We will do this in the near future.  Plus, asking a 3 year old to give away her mountain of stuffed animals is a little tear-jerking.  So, I bought this spray.  I am able to spray all of her stuffed animals once a month as well as the mattress in her room and the little chair in the play area.  It deep cleans the items, leaving them free of body oils, dander and other contaminants.

Now, those are the products that I am currently using as well as hand towels in a few of my bathrooms.   My wishlist, on the other hand, is actually quite long for Norwex products.  The products save time and money, not to mention the amazing benefits for my family.  They have child sized products to allow the little ones in your life to assist in the cleaning.  I actually find myself cleaning more frequently because of the ease with the products.  I should also mention that I am not a seller for Norwex nor am I going to link any one seller to this post.  The reason, I want you to have your own gathering.  Invite one of the sellers in your area over to show you how amazing the products are in real life.  If you are going to invest in these cleaning products, you want to be able to touch them and use them in areas of your home prior to buying.  As for gifts for the cleaning and organizing person in your life, maybe a gift certificate in a stocking or one of the cleaning cloths just to get them introduced to one of the best products on the market.

Life Relapse

I could blame my lack of fitness, healthy eating, organization, and motivation on a whole slew of things.  I have two kids. My husbands commute time is 15 hours a week.  I work full time. But, the reality is, I just fell off the wagon.  I stopped waking up at 4:45am because my kids don’t sleep through the night.  I stopped packing my lunch and prepping my meals for the week.  I just stopped caring.

Eventually, I hit a wall.  I started getting extremely frustrated with myself and my control with sugar. I was missing running.  Even running on my treadmill <gasp>.  My life was not in order and routines were missing to make things feel like they were running smoothly.

It was about two weeks ago when I swore to myself I was going to get up 3 days that week to walk/jog on the treadmill in my basement.  I was successful.  Then I made it another week and my walking was slowly decreasing and my running was slowly increasing.  I was getting back into my game.  I started back with my morning routine of quick kitchen clean up before leaving the house.  I started a routine for sweeping/mopping and vacuuming my floors.  I started a new bedtime routine to help the kids have a better rest and less frustration for mom and dad. I was BACK!

With each success added back into my routine, the better things were running day to day.  I was becoming less and less frustrated with how things in my life were moving.  I no longer felt like I was being tackled by a 350 lbs. lineman.  I was inching up the field.  There is still a long way to go to getting back to where I want to be with my health and fitness.  But I’ve started the process and am more determined than ever.

As always, be confident, be fit, be you!

Home Organization

Some may call it Nesting, others a turning 30 this year need to get my life in order crisis, but I simply call it reality.  It dawned on me a few months back that if my toddler operates best on schedules and routines, then by george, I need to as well.  Those schedules and routines seem to help her remain calm during transitions, realize that play time will come again and that when she helps mommy and daddy things go much smoother.

Like all people attempting to make life changes, I took to the internet.  I scoured Pinterest and YouTube for ideas and tips to better organize my life and schedule.  I found a few people that really make the task of organizing and clean simple and enjoyable.  For those that knew me when I was a preteen, my parents referred to my room as an archeological dig.  You would never find food or plates and cups in my room, but I held onto EVERYTHING. My mom loves to tell the story of the memory holding envelop that simply had my name on it, but I couldn’t tell you anything else about that white letter holder.

After watching and pinning numerous ideas for organization binders, car organizers, and daily household tips, I got to work.  I will make subsequent posts, with pictures, of what I have found to work for me.  My biggest tips (at the current moment):

  • Make your bed as soon as you get out of it in the morning.  I never did this as a kid because I was just going to get back in it and sleep again the next night.  However, having the bed made when I walk into the room makes it seem cleaner and tidier.
  • Never leave dishes in the sink.  If the dishwasher is empty, put them right in.  When it is full, run it.  I unload before I leave for work so that I can reload anything used that day.  I absolutely HATE dishes (there is another fun story my mom would tell) and keeping them out of my sink has really helped my sanity.  For some reason, dirty dishes really stress me out.
  • Keep the car clean.  I’m sure my husband would laugh if he saw I wrote this as a tip.  However, after cleaning out my car a month ago, I don’t think I can go back to having it be a mess.  When I’m at a gas station or when I get home, I take any trash out immediately and throw it away.  Then, I have a bag of supplies for Hailey when we are at restaurants or other places she may need some entertainment.  That stays right under her car seat.  I have a second bag for work materials.  I feel like I live out of my car during the week, just rotating materials for the family programming.  My trunk contains just the essential emergency kit and window scraper for the pesky winter months.

Start with one task at a time and slowly, your life will become more organized and therefore seemingly less stressful!  If you wish to get started on the journey to organization or are looking for more tips, check out these people on YouTube.  They’ve really encouraged me to change my habits!
